Igor Sourine got an excellent professional training as an artist in one of the best academies of art in Russia. The painter´s creative individuality started to form under the influence of the Medieval art, especially Byzantine.

Byzantie was the embodiment of paradise on earth and non - ending pattern for imitation for medieval Europe. Not by chance, after Byzantine capital Konstantinopol was seized by the crusaders, its riches were taken to Europe. Even today they adorn the best European museums.

As far as concrete material world has stopped to inspire his creative work, so the problem of time starts to go into realization of those non - material movements of consciousness he uses quite a clear geometrical composition.

The fly of the sole over the sinful earthly world is a rare theme to solve in modern art. But in European art there is a thin cultural and historical clue, connecting artists with similar aspirations - mainly Radon in France, Churlenis in Lithuania and Clever junior in Russia. We consider all these masters  to be representatives of fantastik art. For this art is also characteristic distinctive work with colour. Igor Sourine feels good its decorative essense. Colour becomes one more struktural element of the composition : concrete form plus decorative concept of colour.

And here it´s possible to say that, searching for Igor Sourine´s artistic predecessors, we find out that he is closest to masters of symbolism, who wanted toshow universal through concrete.

Igor Sourine, while working on his paintings, he is inspired by reality and legends, which get entangled into the whole, because he is in his ideas formed from a distance.  there is also present a hint of Eldorado (non - existing illusory myth, which fascinated so many Europeans ), Atlantida, Shangrila etc.

The attractiveness of the exotic surroundings is shown with the help of both every-day, common symbols as a palm, the sea, and the gleam of the gold, the moon and the sun.The surrealistic way of thinking helps him ot show invented elements more expressively...

At  the turn of the century we focus on the painters whose creation can make the basis of the art of the new century. Which direktions and styles will be successful and which will be forgotten?

The art of the previous century produced a lot of styles, directions which contain negative emotions. The painter who steps into the 21 century faces a decision: to go further in the way of damaging the form and creating of art objects, which can't be understood without a conceptual idea which is created artificially,or to think over the returning back to his own feelings.

Igor Sourine - a painter who had to be discovered at the turn of the 21st century, absorbed the essence of the art of the 20-th century. He chose the way in which the created works contain the artistic beginning.

Igor Sourine relies on the basics of the associative painting, he organically composes surrealistic elements into symbols which are easy to understand. Surrealistic details don't arouse associations which can unnecessarily turn attention from the general idea which the picture is based on.

Positive energy and emotions which primary affect the spectators of the pisture, facilitate the perception of the work, don't make them tired and evoke a wish to return to the painter's works again.
